Techspys Set for Monday at Howard Auditorium

April 29, 2015 RUSTON - If you are a Louisiana Tech fan, it's an event you won't want to miss.

The inaugural Techspys - a spin off of the ESPYs - will debut Monday (May 4) at 6:30 p.m. at Howard Auditorium on the Louisiana Tech campus.

Louisiana Tech Athletics will roll out the blue carpet - literally - for the event. The stars will be out that night as the Kenneth Dixons, Whitney Fraziers, Victor Lange's and Katie Sloans of the Louisiana Tech Athletics world will be on hand for a night filled with honoring the best players, plays, performances and more from the past year.

A total of 14 awards will be presented at the event, including the team of the year, male and female athlete of the year, male and female freshman of the year, male and female performance of the year, male and female play of the year, comeback of the year, and more.

The blue carpet portion of the evening will begin when doors open at 5:30 p.m. Those attending the event will have an opportunity to "walk the blue carpet" which will start at the base of the steps of Howard Auditorium and run towards the Lady of the Mist statue in the center of campus.

Former local television talent Linnea Fayard Allen, Miss Louisiana in 1990 and 4th runner-up to Miss America in 1991, will conduct blue carpet interviews with various Tech student-athletes, coaches and administrators upon their arrival to the event. The Tech Regal Blues will also be in attendance for the event.

The night will also include special performances by the some of the Louisiana Tech student-athletes, including softball's Tori Charters and football's Boston Scott.

Louisiana Tech's very own Teddy Allen will serve as the master of ceremonies while various community and university dignitaries will present the awards throughout the evening.

The Techspys will be free and open to the general public while seating is available. Formal attire is requested.
