Thirty-Five Student-Athletes Earn Degrees

RUSTON - Thirty-five Louisiana Tech student-athletes from nine different sports received degrees during the University's spring commencement exercises held at the Thomas Assembly Center this past Saturday.

Twelve Bulldog football players all earned their degrees in a variety of fields, including Josh Cuthbert (Kinesiology and Health Promotions), Ben Dickerson (Marketing), Justin Ellis (Sociology), Lyle Fitte (Finance), Andrew Guillot (General Studies), Malon Lee (Sociology), Giles Mernard (Aviation Management), Rufus Porter (Sociology), Hayden Slack (Biomedical Engineering), R.P. Stuart (Kinesiology and Health Promotions) and Stephen Warner (Civil Engineering).

The 12th Bulldog was Christian Lacey who graduated in Business Management after finished his playing career in 2011.

Both basketball programs each had one graduate with forward J.L. Lewis earning his degree in Sociology and forward Tavasha Anderson earning her degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotions.

A senior-laden baseball squad had eight graduates receive degrees, including Kyle Arnsberg (Marketing), Dakota Doss (Sociology), Caleb Dudley (Biology), Stephen Gandy (Marketing), Austin Hedges (Constructional Engineering Technology), Ryan Jones (Business Administration), Taylor Terrasas (Kinesiology and Health Promotions) and Corey White (Computer Information Systems).

Four softball players earned degrees, including Janna Frandrup (Kinesiology and Health Promotions), Melanie Goff (Sociology), Dacia Hale (Sociology) and Meghan Knowles (Communication Design).

Other Bulldogs and Lady Techsters to receive their degrees this spring were Elne Barnard (Tennis, Civil Engineering), Vivian ten Dolle (Tennis, Finance), Caitlin Craighead (Bowling, Communication Design), Kayla Ghersini (Bowling, Economics), Paige Dunn (Soccer, Psychology), Mo Rockwell (Soccer, Kinesiology and Health Promotions), Sam Forgan (Golf, Economics), Alwayne Green (Track & Field, Journalism) and Jermaine Morris (Track & Field, Math Education).

A total of 57 current and former student-athletes were handed their college diploma for the 2012-13 academic year.

Louisiana Tech's student-athletes continue to rank among the top in the state and conference in Graduation Success Rate and Academic Progress Rate.
