Talos Named Director of Basketball Strength and Conditioning

RUSTON -- Blake Talos has been named the director of basketball strength and conditioning, announced by the Louisiana Tech Athletics Department on Thursday.
Talos, who most recently was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at The Citadel, will primarily oversee all aspects of the Bulldog and Lady Techster basketball teams.
"I am beyond blessed to be part of the Louisiana Tech Family," Talos said. "The opportunity to work with such great athletic staffs and within a phenomenal athletic department is indescribable. The history of basketball at LA Tech is well recognized and I am looking forward to being part of the continued success."
While at The Citadel, Talos designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for men's basketball, men's and women's track and field, volleyball and assisted full time with football.
"Blake Talos is an energetic and skilled coach with significant experience working with basketball programs," Bulldog Basketball head coach Eric Konkol said. "Our student-athletes will feel his passion daily and benefit from his detailed nature and genuine interest in their development. We are very happy to have Blake join the Louisiana Tech family."
Prior to spending a year in Charleston, South Carolina, he served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for two years at Nicholls State where he worked with nine programs.
At both universities, he demonstrated, educated and instructed student-athletes on lifting techniques, nutrition, recovery, leadership and motivation.
Talos has also done several internships with basketball programs at Tennessee, Purdue, Quinnipiac and Impact Basketball in Las Vegas, Nevada, assisting with sports performance coaches in summer workout programs.
He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and a USA weightlifting sports performance coach (USAW).
Talos received his bachelor's degree in Applied Exercise and Health (concentration in sports performance) from Purdue University and received his master's degree in Education Leadership -- Higher Education from Nicholls State University.
