RUSTON - Jo Ann Dauzat, dean emerita of Louisiana Tech's College of Education, was recognized as the Vantage Health Plan Visionary Educator during the University's home football game against North Texas two weeks ago.
Dr. Dauzat was joined on the Joe Aillet Stadium field for the recognition by Billy Justice, Director of Marketing and Sales for Vantage Health Plan.
"I am truly humbled to have been selected for this inaugural award," Dauzat said. "I have been a professional educator for over 40 years, and this is a truly treasured award to me. Thanks to all who made this possible."
This recognition celebrates educators and administrators who are vital to building Louisiana Tech's superior reputation. Dr. Dauzat was selected for her tremendous dedication to students, the community and Louisiana Tech.
She created the first Doctoral program for the College of Education and facilitated special education partnerships. Dr. Dauzat's service efforts in the community range from Dropout Prevention to Economic Development.
Her contributions continue with the Tech 2020 Vision and Strategic Plan and numerous external projects for the university.
Dr. Dauzat is married to Dr. Samuel Dauzat, professor emeritus at Louisiana Tech and is the mother of four sons who all attended the University. Her granddaughter Hannah Dauzat is a freshman on the Louisiana Tech Lady Techster soccer team.
