RUSTON - Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland announced Tuesday that Adam McGuirt has been hired as the associate athletics director for internal operations.
"I am very excited to find such a quality person for this position," McClelland said. "Adam has really impressed me since my arrival at Tech. I have found him to be extremely responsible and hardworking as well as very committed to the overall picture of the athletics department. By serving on my leadership team, Adam will be a big help to Louisiana Tech Athletics now and in the future."
McGuirt has spent the past six and a half years as the director of athletic advancement, working within the Division of University Advancement. He has been responsible for all areas of athletic development, including donor relations and all aspects of the Louisiana Tech Athletic Club (LTAC).
"Adam has been a tremendous asset to the athletic fund raising operation and all of the activities of the Louisiana Tech Foundation and Alumni Association," said Corre Stegall, Vice President of University Advancement. "He established the Louisiana Tech Athletic Club and has built it into a significant support for Tech's athletic programs. I'm truly proud of all that he's accomplished, and I have every confidence in his bright future in athletic administration.
"Tyson Baldwin, who's worked with Adam for the past several years as coordinator, will lead LTAC and the Lettermen's Club as we build on the strong foundation that's been established."
The Shreveport native takes over a restructured position left by the retirement of Tommy Sisemore, a longtime Louisiana Tech employee who has served as the director of athletic facilities for the past 17 years. Prior to working in the athletic department, Sisemore spent 17 years working in the Louisiana Tech Physical Plant.
"I want to personally thank Tommy Sisemore for his 17 years of service to Louisiana Tech Athletics," McClelland said. "The amount of time he has dedicated to the advancement of our department is immeasurable. We are so grateful for his effort to enhance the lives of our former and current student-athletes. We wish him the best."
McClelland said that McGuirt's new role will include the oversight of facilities, event management and all capital improvements within the athletic department. He will assist in the scheduling, supervision and administration of all athletic facilities while also maintaining relationships with campus constituents, campus security, visiting groups and outside organizations.
"I'm excited for this new opportunity within the athletics department and look forward to serving on the senior staff under the leadership of Tommy McClelland," McGuirt said. "The knowledge and experience I've gained from my time at the University Foundation has been invaluable in preparing me for this new challenge. I look forward to continuing to work with our coaches, staff, student-athletes and campus entities to further advance Louisiana Tech University and the athletics program."
McGuirt graduated from Louisiana Tech in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is married to the former April St. Andre, and the couple has three daughters: Lily, Sophie and Emily.
