Andrea Alfano joined the Louisiana Tech Athletics family in August and serves as the assistant athletics director for business operations.
In this role, Alfano’s daily responsibilities include onboarding and continuing education, daily business operations, liaison with human resources and purchasing, liaison and management of the Adidas contract, vendor trade management, and state, University and athletics travel and purchasing policy compliance.
“We are excited to have a professional with Andrea’s expertise join our team,” said Associate AD/Chief Financial Officer Mark Wagner. “Her knowledge and passion for athletics business operations is a valued addition to our leadership. I am confident in her to guide the daily operations of business and HR that will match our teams on the field success.”
Alfano came to Ruston from Georgia State where she spent the past four years as the human resources coordinator. She previous worked as an administrative assistant to the senior athletics staff. In her current role, she oversees all human resource department matters, including hiring, payroll and other administrative matters.
In her previous role, she assisted with staff scheduling, travel, coordinated student-athlete housing, organized all-staff department meetings and community engagement activities. In her first year, she also helped develop and coordinate an athletic department employee recognition program.
Previously Alfano served as an intern at Florida Atlantic in academic advising during 2013, and from 2012 to 2013 was a community responsibility intern with the Spurs Sports & Entertainment, which oversees the NBA's San Antonio Spurs along with teams in the WNBA and AHL. She started her athletics career as a community relations intern with the San Diego Chargers in 2011.
Alfano graduated from San Diego State with a bachelor's degree in journalism in 2011 before adding a master's degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership from Washington in 2013. A native of San Diego, Alfano volunteered with the Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl from 2010 to 2014.
