David Pillen Joins LA Tech as Director of Video Production and Creative Services

Pillen comes to Tech having previously worked at McNeese State and Abilene Christian

David Pillen begins his third year at Louisiana Tech, his second as the assistant athletic director for marketing and game management after he served as the director of video production and creative services for LA Tech beginning in August 2014.

In his first year after joining the staff in 2014, Pillen worked closely with the marketing department, Learfield Sports and athletic communications to promote LA Tech Athletics through creative pieces such as hype videos, season ticket commercials, sponsored game day elements, student-athlete features and more.

He was also in charge of administering and monitoring game day creative services and video productions for football, men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of LA Tech All-Access streaming.

Pillen previously spent one year at McNeese State where he served as the marketing assistant for the athletic department. In that role, he established and designed the `Geaux Pokes’ rebrand trademarked logo, GeauxPokes.com campaign, McNeeseSports.com redesign and style usage guide.

He also organized marketing plans and executed game promotions and entertainment in order to develop fan engagement. On the video production side, he planned and produced video streaming of athletic events, created and executed promotional content and introduction/ motivational videos relating to all sports.

Pillen received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications in 2012 and his master’s in organizational development in 2013 from Abilene Christian. During his time at ACU, he was a student-athlete for the Wildcats from 2009-2012 before serving as an athletics graduate assistant.

He received the NACMAYP (National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators) of the Month award in August of 2013, an award given to a young professional who has displayed growth and leadership abilities among the collegiate marketing community. He was also the recipient of the Clarion Award in 2011 for his community service efforts with Make-A-Wish Foundation. As an intern, Pillen has worked with the Dallas Cowboys Stadium digital game day productions staff through the Cotton Bowl and the Lone Star Conference.
