Wagner Joins LA Tech Athletics as Chief Financial Officer

Wagner will be responsible for all financial operations within the Louisiana Tech Athletic Department

Mark Wagner has joined the Louisiana Tech Athletics Department as an associate athletic director and the chief financial officer.

Wagner comes to Louisiana Tech from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro where he was the director of business operations and athletics business services coordinator since 2014.

"Mark was highly recommended from various leaders within athletics," said Tech AD Tommy McClelland. "I feel very blessed to attract someone of his caliber to our leadership team. He brings many years of business and financial experience to our department that will serve our student-athletes very well."

In his new position, Wagner will work closely within McClelland's senior administration and be responsible for all financial operations within the Louisiana Tech Athletic Department.

"I am privileged to join the LA Tech Family," Wagner said. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn from the successful team in Athletics and the LA Tech community. I will never cease from trying to be my best for the team. I believe in the journey that the Bulldogs are on under the leadership of Tommy McClelland and President Guice."

While at UNC-Greensboro, Wagner was responsible for all business office operations, provided equipment oversight and assisted in overall management and planning of the annual athletic budget. Wagner's background in athletics consists of financial operations, annual reporting, compliance and development. At UNCG, he routinely assisted coaches and unit managers in budget management and planning in his three years in Greensboro.

In 2016, Wagner was honored by the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) after earning the Emerging Leader Award. He also initiated and chaired CABMA's Mentor Me program in 2015, while also working as a staff senator and staff senate committee chair at UNC-Greensboro.

Prior to his time at UNCG, Wagner served in various roles at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services in Denver and Orlando from 2007 to 2014, including serving as the operations manager from 2008-14 where he assisted in annual budget planning and management, while also providing broker support, training and management.

Wagner graduated from the University of Florida in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in fine arts before earning his master's degree in athletic administration from Ohio University in 2013.

Wagner and his wife, Melissa-Jo, have two children: Gus and Sam.
