Kane McGuire enters his fifth year as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Louisiana Tech University. He is responsible for the publicity and promotion of the men's basketball, women's soccer and women's tennis programs. He also serves as a secondary contact for the Bulldog football program.

McGuire joined the LA Tech staff in July of 2012 after working at Community Trust Bank (now Origin Bank) for five years.

During the last four years, McGuire has worked closely with Bulldog Basketball head coach Eric Konkol and with former head coach Michael White who currently holds the same position at the University of Florida. He has also worked with four all-conference honorees, including Raheem Appleby (three-time all-conference selection), Kenneth `Speedy' Smith (2015 C-USA Player of the Year and AP All-America Honorable Mention), Alex Hamilton (2016 C-USA Player of the Year and AP All-America Honorable Mention) and Erik McCree .

McGuire has publicized the Bulldogs on a national level as they have consistently received points in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Top 25 polls which included the first top 25 national ranking in 28 years during the 2012-13 season.

He helped highlight the team's accomplishments with program records such as 29 wins and an 18-game winning streak while winning three conference regular season titles and making four straight postseason appearances.

McGuire has also worked closely with current women's tennis head coach Chad Camper (two-time Louisiana Coach of the Year) and former head coach Freddy Gomez and is credited with publicizing all-conference selections in tennis including the program's first ever four-time selection in Alexandra Starkova, as well as Manoela Chiacchio, Vivian ten Dolle and Joanna Nalborska who became the program's first ever conference freshman of the year.

In soccer, he has worked with two-time Louisiana Coach of the Year Kevin Sherry and all-conference players Emily Brennan, Mo Rockwell, Caitlin Updyke, Donya Salomon-Ali and Kathryn Sloan (2015 Academic All-American and 2014 Louisiana Player of the Year).

He also has responsibilities of assisting with football press conferences, keeping track of post-game notes during games and writing feature stories for the football game day programs.

McGuire has performed public addressing for softball and baseball and has provided color commentary for a dozen men's basketball games alongside LA Tech Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Nitz.

He has won six awards over the past four years at the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association SID contest. His story on defensive tackle Shakeil Lucas and his family's overcoming of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans won third place while his story on wide receiver Hayden Slack and his family's long-standing history as part of the Bulldog football program won second place.

McGuire's men's basketball media guide garnered third place honors in 2016 while his soccer media guide has placed second each of the last two years.

He also serves on the Karl Malone Award Committee which chooses the nation's top collegiate power forward.

The Ruston native is a 2006 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in English.

McGuire resides in Ruston with his wife Kari McGuire of St. Francisville, La., and his 6-year old son Colin.
