Dave Nitz, the veteran of state broadcasters and a recent inductee into the LA Tech Athletics Hall of Fame, is in its 37th season as the "Voice of the Bulldogs."

Since arriving in Ruston in 1974, Nit has called football men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball and was recognized on December 22, 2009 for his 2000th Louisiana Tech broadcast.

The West Virginia native has been in the broadcasting business for more than 50 years, spending the past three and a half decades at LA Tech. During his time in Ruston, he also served as the assistant media relations director for the athletics department for 15 years.

He was named the 2009 Louisiana Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Besides providing the play-by-play, Nitz is the radio broadcaster and the media relations director for the Sioux City Explorers, an independent minor league baseball team in the American Association.

In addition to working for Sioux City, Nitz has also served as the play-by-play man for a number of minor league teams, including teams in the Orioles, Giants and Rangers organizations.

His 37 years at LA Tech ranks in the top five in the country among active broadcasters with the same school. He was inducted into the LA Tech Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 1, 2011 as a member of the 13 class in the school's history.
