27 Louisiana Tech student-athletes will earn their degrees Saturday
Simpkins and Benjamin will both work closely with all LA Tech student-athletes
In December of 2013, the Louisiana Tech Athletic Department announced the hiring of Reggie Simpkins to serve as the Assistant Athletic Director of Academics.
Simpkins oversees all academic services pertaining to the Bulldog and Lady Techster athletic programs and recently started the first ever stole ceremony in honoring the student-athletes who are graduating.
He came to Louisiana Tech from Clemson University where he played a vital role in academics for almost 10 years. While at Clemson, Simpkins served as the Associate Director of Academic Services for the past two years for the Tigers, while also working closely with a variety of sports and exclusively with the offensive student-athletes for football.
Simpkins also ensured that all student-athletes were meeting progress toward degrees and working toward graduation in his time at Clemson.
Prior to serving as the Associate Director of Academic Services, Simpkins began at Clemson in 2004 in the Michelin Career Center and quickly moved into the position of Assistant Director of Career Development where he provided career counseling for students and facilitated outreach workshops and presentations for classes and student organizations.
Simpkins received a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from South Carolina State University in 2001 and a Master of Arts in counseling from Webster University in 2004.
Most recently, he earned a master's of public administration from Clemson in August 2013.
