Thomas joined the LA Tech staff in July of 2012 after earning her bachelor's degree in journalism from Louisiana Tech.
Over the last four years, Thomas' primary responsibility has been the coverage of the Bulldog Baseball program, which is coming off its best season in nearly 30 years after former head coach Greg Goff, who recently took over the helm at Alabama, led the Bulldogs to 42 wins and an NCAA Regional appearance, the team's first since the 1987 season. She helped with the national promotion of Louisiana Tech's baseball program, which received votes in the Top 25 in 2016 for the first time since the late 80s.
She was also responsible for the promotion of Louisiana Tech's women's volleyball and bowling teams as well as serving as a secondary football contact from 2012-16 before taking over as the primary football contact prior to the 2016 football season.
Thomas recently garnered national recognition for her volleyball media guide after placing second in the country by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in 2016. She also contributed to the production of Louisiana Tech's football game notes, which were recognized as the best fall sport game notes packet in the country. Thomas was part of a team that produced the school's New Orleans Bowl Media Guide, which ranked second in the country in postseason guides category.
Along with the entire athletic communications staff, Thomas contributed to the production of the 2015-16 women's basketball media guide, which was voted first place by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Division III Media Guide category.
Following the 2015 season, Thomas earned a second place award for her Bulldog baseball game notes in the Best Fact Sheet category, one year after finishing in first place in the same category. That same year, Thomas' baseball media guide received fourth place nationally by CoSIDA, while her volleyball guide ranked sixth in the country.
In 2014, Thomas picked up a first place award in the Best Fact Sheet category with her Bulldog Baseball game notes, while also placing third with her baseball media guide at the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association SID contest. In 2015, she earned a second place award for her Bulldog Baseball game notes in the Best Fact Sheet category, one year after finishing in first place in the same category.
As a student at LA Tech, Thomas served as the sports editor for The Tech Talk over the course of two years and served as editor-in-chief for the school newspaper. She also was a student intern for the Louisiana Tech Athletic Multimedia Department for three years specializing in video productions for LA Tech All-Access.
In her time as the school newspaper's sports editor, Thomas was named Best Sports Columnist and Best Sports Writer by the Society of Professional Journalists (Region 12) and Louisiana Press Women, respectively.
The Monroe native graduated from Louisiana Tech in the fall of 2012 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in marketing.
