Kim Mulkey

Mulkey played at Louisiana Tech from 1980-84 with the Lady Techsters, reaching the Final Four each of those years and winning an AIAW national championship in 1981 and an NCAA national title in 1982. A two-time Academic All-American, she ended her playing career with an overall record of 130-6. In 1984, Mulkey won an Olympic gold medal as a player on the U.S. women's basketball team. She also won gold medals at the 1981 U.S. Oympic Festival and the 1983 Pan American Games. Prior to Tech, Mulkey played on all four Hammond High School Louisiana state championship teams. She served 15 years as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech including the last four years as associate head coach. Mulkey is the first person in NCAA history to win a basketball national championship as a player, assistant coach and head coach (Baylor).
