HOUSTON - Newcomers Tiana Davis, Jesseka Jones and Kia Vance all made the finals of the 60m hurdles as the Louisiana Tech track and field program made a strong showing to open the season at the Leonard Hamilton Invitational hosted by the University of Houston. The Lady Techsters finished sixth while the Bulldogs finished eighth in the season's opening meet.

Chasidee Lewis-Baker, a 2009 All-WAC sprinter in 60m and 200m dashes, matched her 2009 WAC Indoor Championship time of 7.51 in the 60m dash prelims, finishing second in her heat. That race marked Lewis-Baker's fastest time in the 60m dash since running 7.49 her freshman year at the WAC Championships. Baton Rouge native Rakeisha Green won her prelim heat of the 60m dash with a time of 7.57 and finished 11th in the finals with a mark of 7.65. Lewis-Baker did not compete in the finals.
On the men's side, Billy Walker came three-hundredths of a second away from an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark in the 60m hurdles as he ran 7.94 to finish second in the finals. Walker ran 7.97 to win his prelim heat in order to advance to the finals.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Wade McGaha, Alwayne Green, Justin Terry and Albert Fullwood ran 3:22.91 to finish fourth, a time that was three-tenths of a second away from Tech's 4x400m relay time at the 2009 Leonard Hamilton Invitational.
