Two School Records Fall on Final Day of Arkansas State Invitational

JONESBORO, ARk. - Louisiana Tech had two school record fall Saturday as action concluded at the Arkansas State Invitational in Jonesboro. Chelsea Hayes claimed her second school record set in the weekend while Trey Hadnot set a new record in the 200m.
After setting a new school record in the long jump Friday, Hayes ran 6.91 in the 55m dash Saturday to win the race and set a new school record. She previously held the school record with a time of 6.91 set last year at the same meet.
Tech had four sprinters place in the finals with Kim Francis (7.25) finishing sixth, Stacia Hanneman (7.33) finishing seventh and Kenyattia Hackworth running 7.34 to finish eighth. Hayes also won the 200m with a time of 23.76, a personal record and mark ranking fifth in school history while Hanneman finished second in the race with a time of 24.78. Hackworth ran 25.10 to finish fifth, Charla Craddock ran 25.19 to finish sixth and Monique Wright placed seventh with a time of 25.32.
In the men's 200m, sophomore Trey Hadnot - who made the United States national team as a freshman last year - ran a school record time of 21.04 to win the race. Hadnot broke the old school record of 21.25 set by Al Fullwood on Feb. 27, 2010. Josh Goree finished third in the 200m with a time of 21.79 while Edward Ivory ran 22.11 to place seventh.
Taneka Henderson claimed one of Louisiana Tech's seventh event wins of the meet with a time of 56.68 to win the 400m. Dominique Crosby ran 57.22 to finish second while Aldresha Bailey placed third with a time of 58.07.
In the men's 800m, Alwayne Green ran 1:54.48 to finish second while Drakius Smith placed third with a time of 1:56.60.
Micara Vassell won the women's shot put with a personal record throw of 49-7 (15.11m) while Marcella LeBlanc finished second with a mark of 46-10.25 (14.28m). Sabrittany Angelle rounded out the top three with a third-place throw of 44-6.75 (13.58m). All times 200m and up were converted to banked track times.
Louisiana Tech returns to action on Feb. 11-12 as Tech competes at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
