@LATechTFXC Wraps up Weekend at Jaguar Invitational

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech’s Track and Field teams spent a busy Sunday afternoon competing in the 2017 South Alabama Jaguar Indoor Invitational, where the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters combined to record 17 individual top 10 finishes at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

In the field events, LA Tech had 12 student-athletes finish in the top 10, led by Tamario Lattin who recorded a first place finish in the men’s long jump competition with a mark of 24-2.5 (7.38m). Craig Jones also placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 22-2.25 (6.76m). The duo also impressed in the triple jump with Lattin placing sixth (47-2.5) and Jones seventh (45-9.0).

In the women’s triple jump, Dominique Lewis (36-6.75) and Anji Garcia-Solis (36-6.25) recorded back-to-back finishes to place eighth and ninth, respectively.

Chris London had the second-highest finish of the day for the Bulldogs after he placed third in the men’s weight throw with a mark of 57-3.0 (17.47m).

Louisiana Tech had two women finish in the top 10 in the high jump competition with Chloe Lautric placing fifth (5-4.5) and Jasmine White finishing in 10th place (5-2.5).

In the men’s shot put, LA Tech’s Isaac Samuels finished eighth with a mark of 48-4.5, while Asia Abron placed ninth on the women’s side with a mark of 43-8.75. The women’s pole vault event featured LA Tech’s Alies van Berkum, who placed sixth overall in the competition with a mark of 11-5.75.

LA Tech had five top 10 finishes in the running events at Sunday’s Jaguar Invitational, as the Bulldogs were led by Brandon Lewis-Graham, who placed fifth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:06.33.



Jermey Hicks once again impressed in the 60-meter dash after he finished in sixth place in the finals with a time of 6.84 Sunday in Birmingham. In the men’s 1-mile run, freshman Austin Ballow placed eighth (4:19.43), while Elia Nero finished in ninth place in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 57.81.

Out of 12 teams, LA Tech’s men finished in eighth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:24.26 to close out the Jaguar Invitational.

LA Tech’s Track and Field teams are back in action on Feb. 18-19 when the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters travel back to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the Conference USA Indoor Championships.
