Chelsea Hayes ran 7.24 in the 60m dash prelims, a time set new records in the following categories: personal record, Louisiana Tech school record, Jackson Track facility record, Western Athletic Conference record and a WAC Championships record. As of the time of performance, Hayes’ mark ranked fourth in the nation and was just one-hundredth of a second (0.01) from automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Chelsea Hayes winning long jump of 21-2/6.45m set a new WAC Championship record, breaking a mark that had stood for nine years. The old mark of 21-0/6.40m was set by Rice’s Alice Falaiye in 2002. Hayes’ mark was 1.5 inches away from a new facility record. Olivia Lukasewich ran the seventh-fastest 800m time in school history with a mark of 2:16.79. The women’s distance medley relay team ran 13:35.21, the fourth-fastest time in school history.
