Baton Rouge, La. - Louisiana Tech's relay team got off to a strong start to the outdoor season and several sprinters and hurdlers advanced to Saturdays finals as Louisiana Tech opened up action at the LSU Relays Friday afternoon.
The women's 4x100m relay won with a time of 45.52 as Chelsea Hayes, Chasidee Lewis-Baker, Stacia Hanneman and Kim Francis notched the relay team's first win of the season. In the men's relay, Dennis Richardson, Kevin Stewart, Joshua Goree and Trey Hadnot led Tech to a third place finish with a time of 40.60.
In the sprint medley relay, the men's quartet of Jeremiah Johnson, Stewart, Hadnot and Justin Terry finished third with a time of 3:25.93 while the women's relay team of Francis, Monique Wright, Aldresha Bailey and Taneka Henderson placed seventh with a time of 4:12.70.
Tiana Davis finished second in the long jump with a mark of 19-8.75 while Quatisha Williams placed 12th, jumping 18-3. Tech finished 3-4 in the shot put with Marcella LeBlanc throwing 46-8.25 and Micarra Vassell throwing 46-4.25.
