Track & Field Registers 15 Top-3 Finishes at SFA Invite

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Louisiana Tech’s track and field program registered 15 finishes in the top three with four event winners at the Stephen F. Austin Invitational at the Fletcher Garner Track in Nacogdoches.
High jumper Pamela Lee tied a personal record with a mark of 5-8.75 (1.75m) as she won the women’s high jump competition. Her mark, which beat Wichita State’s J’Lynn Ledesma by 1.75 inches, ranks second in school history and less than two inches from Ayana Walker’s school record high jump mark of 5-10.5 (1.79m) set in 2000.
In the 100m hurdles, Bianca Jackson set a new personal record as she won with a time of 13.62. Jackson was also part of the 4x100m relay team that finished second with a time of 46.12, joining Charla Craddock, Brittany Walker and Victoria Wade on the relay squad.
Craddock also claimed an event win in the 200m, running 24.08 while teammate Kim Francis placed fourth with a time of 24.50. Francis also competed in the 100m where she led all Lady Techsters with a third place finish, running 11.89, while Wade ran 12.11 to place seventh.
Aldresha Bailey placed third in the 400m with a time of 56.23 while Diamond Every ran 58.52 to finish eighth and Danielle Zenon, in her first competition of the season after redshirting the indoor season, ran 59.30 to place 12th. Bailey, Every and Zenon, along with Taneka Henderson, ran on the 4x400m relay and finished second with a time of 3:48.06.
Marcella LeBlanc set a new personal record in the shot put, throwing 51-3.5 (15.63m) to win the event while Micara Vassell (48-10, 14.88m) placed third and Sabrittany Angelle (48-4.75, 14.75m) had a personal record throw to finish fourth.
Vassell also had a top-five finish in the discus, placing fourth with a throw of 156-8 (47.75m).
On the men’s side, Niko Richey ran a pair of personal best times as he placed third in the 100m with a time of 10.59 and ran 21.05 in the 200m to finish second. Kyonz Smith also set a personal record time in the 200m, placing third with a mark of 21.55.
Paul Sakit notched a pair of third-place finishes as he ran a personal record 1:53.76 in the 800m and ran 3:53.96 in the 1,500m.
Evan Warnick placed in both hurdles events, finished third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.80 and finishing seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.70. Warnick also ran on the 4x400m relay team that placed fifth with a time of 3:18.40. Joining Warnick on the relay was Yusuf Muhammad, Christopher Sampract and Smith.
Devin Henderson also recorded a top-3 finish as he jumped 23-7.5 (7.20m) to place third in the long jump.
Louisiana Tech will take next week off before a double meet weekend on April 19-20 as Tech will compete at the Southeastern (Louisiana) Invite on that Friday, April 19 in Hammond, La. and then will compete at the LSU Alumni Gold meet the following day in Baton Rouge, La.
