LA Tech Women Edged by Host LSU in Relay at Alumni Gold

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech's women's 4x100m relay squad was edged by host LSU and finished second, running the 15th-fastest time in the country this year, at the LSU Alumni Gold meet at Bernie Moore Track Stadium Saturday.
The Louisiana Tech quartet of Bianca Jackson, Brittany Walker, Charla Craddock and Mia Adams improved on its season-best time by almost 0.4 seconds and jumped up the national lists with a top-15 time season season. The Lady Techsters beat McNeese State, Texas State and Arizona in the relay race. The host Tigers entered the race as the favorite, ranked second in the nation.
Adams also ran in the 200m, finishing seventh with a time of 24.35 as she was edged by teammate LaQuanda James, who ran 24.22 to finish sixth. Wade also ran in the race as she followed Adams in eighth with a time of 24.36.
Craddock registered a fifth-place finish in the long jump invitational, jumping 19-5.5 (5.93m) in a competition that featured two of the top 15 jumpers in the country this season.
On the men's side Jared Shepherd ran a personal best time of 54.43 to finish seventh in the 400m hurdles, improving on his career record time by almost 1.5 seconds.
Freshman Gregory Ballard continued to improve in the pole vault as he recorded a season-best height of 15-7.25 (4.76m) to place 12th.
Louisiana Tech stays in-state this upcoming week and heads to Natchitoches for the NSU Leon Johnson Invitational hosted by Northwestern State.
