DES MOINES, Iowa - Louisiana Tech's women's 4x400m relay ran a season-best time and a pair of men's relays posted top-10 times in school history as action got underway at the 102nd Drake Relays in Des Moines Friday.
Meanwhile the men's 4x800m relay ran the fourth-best time in school history as Matt Wolfe, Justin Terry, Jermaine Morris and Alwayne Green ran 7:41.24 to finish 13th overall. The men's 4x200m relay squad of Trey Hadnot, Josh Goree, Dennis Richardson and Kevin Stewart ran 1:24.37 - also the fourth-best mark in school history - as they finished an impressive third overall.
Both 4x100m relay teams ran well as the men's relay quartet of Richardson, Stewart, Goree and Hadnot ran 40.59 and finished sixth, beating five Big Ten and Big 12 teams. The women's relay of Hayes, Lewis-Baker, Hanneman and Wright ran 45.20 as they finished fifth and beat five Big 12 and SEC teams, including Alabama.
Ruston native Larry Jones finished ninth overall in the shot put with a throw of 55-2.25 (16.82m).
Action at the 102nd Drake Relays concludes Saturday.
