LA Tech T&F Closes Out Regular Season at Ole Miss Classic

OXFORD, Miss. - Louisiana Tech’s track and field squads wrapped up their final weekend of competition prior to this week’s Conference USA Championships as the two teams recorded several top 10 finishes at the Ole Miss Classic on Saturday.

LA Tech had two Lady Techsters finish in second place in two separate events this weekend, as Chloe Lautric came in second in the women’s high jump with a mark of 5-5 (1.65m), while Camille Lott finished in second place in the women’s javelin with a mark of 139-5.5 (42.50m).

Janiel McDonald also placed third in the women’s long jump with a jump of 19-0 (5.79m), while Dominique Lewis finished the women’s triple jump in fourth place with a mark of 37-5.25 (11.41m).

In the throwing events, LA Tech’s Morgan Keesee came in fifth place in the women’s hammer competition with a throw of 163-2.25 (49.73m), while Asia Abron finished the women’s discus in sixth place with a mark of 141-1.25 (43.00m). Rhea Thompson also competed in the discus throw and finished seventh with a mark of 139-11.75 (42.66m), while she also placed sixth in the shot put event with a throw of 45-8 (13.91m).

As for the men’s field events, freshman Daniel Sams competed in the pole vault and finished in third place with a mark of 15-7 (4.75m). In the men’s discus, Isaac Samuels placed eighth in the event with a throw of 164-11.5 (50.27m).

 

 

In the running events, LA Tech had two Bulldogs finish in the top 10 in the men’s 1500-meter run with Drake Heinz placing sixth with a time of 4:02.53 and Austin Ballow following closely behind to place seventh with a time of 4:02.58.

For LA Tech’s women competing in running events, Kacie Kaufman finished the 1500-meter run in fifth place with a time of 5:04.50, while Ona Giles came in seventh place in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 24.59.

This weekend marked LA Tech’s final regular season competition prior to the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, which is set to begin Thursday, May 11 in El Paso, Texas.
