EUGENE, Ore. - Louisiana Tech’s men’s 4x100m relay team and hurdler Yusuf Muhammad concluded their season Wednesday in the semifinal round at the 2013 NCAA Championships at Historic Heyward Field in Eugene.
Tech’s relay team ran 39.71, matching the time the team ran at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships that also ranks as the 10th best time in school history. The relay squad – consisting of Devin Henderson, Trey Hadnot, Niko Richey and Dennis Richardson – finished seventh in its heat and 12th overall as the Bulldogs beat Houston by 0.75 seconds.
Muhammad finished 18th overall and seventh in his heat with a time of 52.16. He advanced to the NCAA Championships after running the fastest quarterfinal round time at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in Greensboro, N.C. two weeks ago.
Louisiana Tech’s last entry into the NCAA Championships is Kim Francis who will run in the 100m hurdles on Thursday. The hurdles semifinal round begins at 7:05 p.m. CT/5:05 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ESPN3. Tech joined LSU as the only two schools from Louisiana to send multiple entries to the 2013 NCAA Championships.
