Louisiana Tech Announces 2012 Track and Field Schedules

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech announced its 2012 indoor and outdoor track and field schedules featuring a four indoor meets and an outdoor slate highlighted by the Jim Mize Invitational on April 7.
The 2012 slates include four meets at Conference USA schools and three meets at Southeastern Conference schools.
The indoor schedule starts on Jan. 12-13 as Tech kicks off the season at the Blazer Invite in Birmingham, Ala. and then returns to the UAB campus a week later for the Birmingham Invitational on Jan. 26. Tech then heads to Fayetteville, Ark. on Feb. 10-11 for the Tyson Invitational, one of the premier indoor meets in the country.
The indoor season concludes on Feb. 24-25 with the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships held in Boise, Idaho as the Lady Techsters will be vying for seventh title in eight years.
The outdoor slate begins on March 17 as Tech travels to Lafayette to compete in the Louisiana Classics meet hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette. On March 23-24, LA Tech will compete at the 30th Annual Victor Lopez Classic hosted by Rice in Houston and then returns to the Lone Star State the following week for the Texas Relays on March 28-31.
Louisiana Tech hosts the Jim Mize Invitational, its annual home meet, on April 7 at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex in Ruston.
On April 14, LA Tech will compete at the Mississippi Open hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. before two meets in the southern part of the Pelican State beginning with the Southeastern Invitational on April 20 in Hammond followed by the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge on April 21. The regular season concludes with a trip to the Golden Eagle Classic hosted by Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss. on April 28.
The WAC Outdoor Championships will be hosted by Idaho in Moscow, Idaho on May 8-11 where the Lady Techsters will be competing for their eighth consecutive outdoor title and potentially their 15th WAC title in 16 tries.
The postseason continues on May 24-26 in Jacksonville, Fla. with the 2012 NCAA East Preliminary Championships followed by the NCAA Championships on June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa. The 2012 slate concludes with the USA Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. on June 22-July 1.
