@LATechTandF Announces 2016 Indoor Schedule

Jan. 5, 2016

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head track and field coach Gary Stanley announced the program’s 2016 indoor track and field schedule including a slate of four meets hosted by Southeastern Conference teams.

The 2016 schedule marks one of the program’s most challenging slates in recent years, facing host schools LSU, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and Arkansas this year.

The Arkansas women won the indoor national championship last year while the Razorback men finished third, the Texas A&M men finished fourth in the NCAA Indoor Championships last season with the women finishing ninth and LSU’s men (7th) and women (15th) were a pair of top-15 teams. Vanderbilt’s women were also powerful, placing 38th at the NCAA Indoor Championships (Vanderbilt does not field a men’s team).

Louisiana Tech will open the season on Jan. 8 with the Purple Tiger Invitational hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge before heading to College Station, Texas for the Aggie Team Invitational on Jan. 15. That meet will begin at Noon CT and will be broadcast on the SEC Network Plus (SECN+).

LA Tech will head to Nashville, Tennessee for the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 29-30 in the meet where Jarvis Gotch became the world’s top-ranked long jumper last season, a title he held for several weeks.

Gotch and the Tech program will then head to the prestigious Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The two-day meet will start on Feb. 12 with an 11 a.m. CT start and will conclude on Feb. 13 with a Noon CT start. Both days will be broadcast live on SECN+.

Louisiana Tech will then head to Birmingham, Alabama for the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 and then return to Birmingham for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11-12.
