LA Tech 2016 Track and Field Schedule

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head track and field coach Gary Stanley announced the program's 2016 outdoor schedule highlighted by the Tech-hosted Jim Mize Invitational on March 18-19.

The announcement completes the full 2016 schedule just a few weeks after the indoor slate was announced. The outdoor season begins with the Jim Mize Invitational in Ruston and concludes in Eugene, Oregon with the NCAA Championships and U.S. Olympic Trials.

After hosting the Jim Mize Invitational, Louisiana Tech will head to Texas for a pair of meets, first with the UTA Bobby Lane Invitational on March 26 in Arlington, Texas then with the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on March 30 through April 2.

Tech then returns to Louisiana for three consecutive meets with a trip to Natchitoches on April 8-9 for the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational. The next two meets have Tech heading down south with the Southeastern Invitational in Hammond on April 15-16 followed by the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge on April 23. The regular season wraps up in Starkville, Mississippi when Tech competes at the MSU Invitational on April 30.

Middle Tennessee will host the Conference USA Championships on May 12-15 as LA Tech looks to claim another conference championship.

Select student-athletes that finish in the top 48 in their event will be invited to compete at the 2016 NCAA East Preliminary Championships on May 26-28 in Jacksonville, Florida with advancing athletes heading to Eugene, Oregon on June 8-100 for the NCAA Championships.

Then qualified athletes will head back to Eugene for the U.S. Olympic Trials on July 1-10 for a chance to represent the United States of America at the Olympic Games this summer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
