HOUSTON - Louisiana Tech’s track and field program returns to action this weekend as Tech travels to Houston for the Howie Ryan Invitational hosted by the University of Houston on Friday and Saturday.
Tech will compete against several Louisiana and Texas schools including UTSA, SMU, Texas State, Rice, McNeese State, North Texas, Stephen F. Austin, Houston and more.
Friday’s events will include half of the throwing events and most of the sprint prelims while Saturday’s schedule includes the remaining field events with semifinals and finals races.
Tech’s women’s team enters the weekend ranked 16th in the South Central Region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings ahead of McNeese State. Kim Francis is seventh in the region in the 60m hurdles after running 8.39 to win the race at the Blazer Invitational earlier this month while the Techster 4x400m relay team, with a time of 3:48.59, currently ranks eighth in the region.
On the men’s side, the Bulldogs are 23rd in the region with Trey Hadnot claiming an eighth place ranking in the 200m after running 21.28 in Birmingham.
This weekend’s meet only marks the second meet of the season for Louisiana Tech.
