LA Tech Meet Notes: Vanderbilt Invitational Get Acrobat Reader

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will face four teams ranked in the top 25 this weekend as Tech heads to Nashville, Tennessee for the Vanderbilt Invitational starting Friday afternoon.

Louisiana Tech's men enter the meet ranked 48th in the nation, the program's highest ranking since 2014. That will be put to the test with two teams ranked ahead of the Bulldogs -- No. 8 Tennessee and No. 31 Southern Illinois -- while four programs are hot on the heels of Tech in the rankings including No. 55 Michigan, No. 60 North Carolina State, No. 61 Ole Miss and No. 65 Middle Tennessee.

The Bulldogs are led by Jarvis Gotch who is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the long jump. Last season at the Vanderbilt Invitational, Gotch jumped a school record 26-3 (8.12m) becoming just the 11th collegian and first from a non-Power 5 school to surpass the 8.00-meter mark since 2010.

Louisiana Tech's women will face a challenging field led by No. 12 Tennessee and No. 19 North Carolina State.

Mia Adams has won the long jump in each of the two meets she has competed in so far this year and enters the week ranked 34th nationally and third in Conference USA in the event.

Tech will also get a quick comparison of Conference USA action with Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, UAB and Western Kentucky set to compete in Nashville. This weekend's meet is less than a month before the 2016 Conference USA Indoor Championships, set for Feb. 24-25 in Birmingham, Alabama.
