@LATechTandF Makes First of Three Trips to Birmingham Friday
Feb. 11, 2016
RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's track and field program will make the first of what will hopefully be three consecutive trips to Birmingham, Alabama Friday for the Samford Invitational at the CrossPlex.
Birmingham is also playing host to the Conference USA Indoor Championships (Feb. 24-25) and the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 11-12). While Louisiana Tech is assured of a chance to compete at the C-USA championship meet, student-athletes are still vying for the coveted few spots available for the NCAA Championships.
But first comes the Samford Invitational, a meet that will feature several top programs from the Atlantic Coast Conference, C-USA, Southeastern Conference and Southern Conference.
Jarvis Gotch leads Louisiana Tech's men as the senior is ranked in the top 25 nationally in two different events, the long jump (6th) and 60m dash (22nd).
On the women's side, Mia Adams is 31st in the long jump nationally.
Action at the Samford Invitational begins Friday and 8 p.m. and resumes on Saturday with field events starting at 9 a.m. and running events beginning at 11 a.m.
