@LATechTandF Hosts Jim Mize Invitational Beginning Friday

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will host a pair of the world's top-ranked athletes as the two-day Jim Mize Invitational track and field meet begins Friday evening.
Former Bulldog thrower Jason Morgan (Jamaica) is currently ranked eighth in the world in the discus after throwing 208-4 (63.50m) on March 14 while current Bulldog jumper Jarvis Gotch finished the indoor season ranked eighth in the world in the long jump as his mark of 26-7.75 (8.12m) set a new school record.
Louisiana Tech will be hosting Alcorn State, Louisiana-Monroe, Northwestern State and UALR in the meet.
Friday's action begins with the pole vault and hammer throw starting at 5 p.m. with the 3,000m run starting at 7 p.m.
Saturday's action starts at 11:15 a.m. with the women's discus throw and the men's shot put. Morgan is scheduled to throw the discus at 12:45 p.m.
Running events on Saturday start at 3 p.m. with the 4x100m relays and will conclude with the 4x400m relays at 4:50 p.m.
The Jim Mize Invitational opens the outdoor season for Louisiana Tech, a slate that leads up to the Conference USA Championships on May 15-17 in El Paso, Texas before NCAA postseason competition begins.
