RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech’s track and field teams will take on the nation’s best this weekend as Tech received a special invitation to compete in the SEC-Big Ten Challenge hosted by Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss.
The men’s and women’s teams will face Illinois, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Purdue, Tennessee and Wisconsin as well as Missouri State in a scored meet.
In addition, a split squad composed primarily of distance runners will head to Houston, Texas for the Victor Lopez Invitational hosted by Rice.
Leading the women’s team will be Kim Francis, last week’s Western Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week. She earned the honor after running 13.53 in the 100m hurdles to win the event at the Jim Mize Invitational on March 16 in Ruston, marking the fastest season-opening hurdles time of her career.
Trey Hadnot will lead the men’s team after finishing third in the 200m at the NCAA Indoor Championships, earning first team All-America honors.
