RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech track and field will split squads again this weekend with the majority of the team heading to the prestigious 86th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays while distance runners will head to California for a pair of meets.
Louisiana Tech's top athletes will compete in Austin, Texas against the nation's top collegiate and professional competition, including former LA Tech standout and 2012 Olympian Chelsea Hayes. The Texas Relays begin on Wednesday with the heptathlon and decathlon while Tech's entrants will begin competition Thursday.
Meanwhile, similar to last weekend, the distance runners will head elsewhere. Matt Wolfe and Tom Stringer have qualified for the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in San Francisco, Calif. while Paul Sakit, whose personal record time of 3:50.16 in the 1,500m currently leads the WAC and ranks 31st in the nation, has qualified for the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. as well as the Distance Carnival in San Francisco.
Wolfe and Sakit both ran personal record times in the 1,500m last weekend at the Victor Lopez Invitational in Houston, Texas at a meet hosted by Rice, a future Conference USA foe.
