LA Tech Track & Field to Compete at Southern Miss Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Louisiana Tech’s track and field squads will travel to the Magnolia State this weekend to compete at the annual Southern Miss Invitational at Bell Track and Field Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Louisiana Tech will have just four student-athletes in action when Friday’s field events begin, but the action heats up Saturday as the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will combine to compete in a total of 23 running and field events.
LA Tech’s Maggie Herrmann and Camille Lott will compete in the women’s javelin late Friday afternoon with Tyler Griggers set to represent the Bulldogs on the men’s side, while Morgan Keesee will also compete in the women’s hammer throw on Friday before the action continues Saturday morning.
The Bulldogs will have six participants in the men’s 1,500-meter run with Drake Heinz, Manoah Kiptum, Brandon Lewis-Graham, Scott Maggio, Nathan Bolner and Austin Ballow are scheduled to compete. On the women’s side, Elia Nero is entered in the 1,500-meter run, as well as running a leg in the women’s 4x400-meter relay.
In the hurdles, LA Tech will be represented by Janiel McDonald in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, while Jordan Patrick and Michael Pratt will race in the men’s 110-meter hurdles. Pratt will also compete in the 200-meter dash on the men’s side with Darius Statham, while the women’s 200-meter dash will feature Maggie Herrmann.
Saturday’s 400-meter dash will see Brandi Dobbin and Alies Van Berkum compete for the women, while Jacob Cambre is set to compete in the men’s event. Dobbin, Giles and Morgan White will also compete in the women’s 4x100-meter relay.
The rest of the field events will pick back up Saturday, while LA Tech will have a total of 13 student-athletes competing in jumps and throws this weekend.
Chloe Lautric and Jasmine White will represent the Lady Techsters in the women’s high jump this weekend, while Jordan Patrick and Tamario Lattin will compete in the high jump on the men’s side. Patrick is also scheduled for the long jump and discus throw, while Lattin will compete in the men’s long jump as well.
In the women’s long jump, LA Tech will have Morgan White and Dominique Lewis competing, while Cambre is also scheduled for the men’s long jump and discus. The men’s discus competition will also see Isaac Samuels competing for the Bulldogs, while he is also entered in the men’s shot put this weekend.
