April 7, 2016

IRVING, Texas - Conference USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced the 14 student-athletes that will receive the C-USA Winter Spirit of Service Award today with Laticia Watson representing Louisiana Tech.

The C-USA Spirit of Service Award recognizes the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant public service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service Award will be presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing Conference USA's winter sports: men's and women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's indoor track and field.

Watson serves as the social media and public relations chair for SAAC. She also organized the track student-athletes' volunteer efforts at the Ruston Peach Festival, Wiggin' Out -- Cancer Benefits and Awareness (Gala) Community Organization, the Alpine Retirement Home and as mentors at Ruston High School. A native of Gonzales, Louisiana, Watson is a marketing major. She holds the school record for pentathlon points, scored during the 2015 C-USA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
