RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's track and field program heads to Oxford, Miss. this weekend to complete in the Ole Miss Invitational.
Last Time Out
► Two school records were broken last weekend as Tech competed in the 83rd Annual Texas Relays. The men's sprint medley team ran 3:20.85 to top a 14-year old mark by two seconds while Antoinette Cobb ran 13.22 in the 100m hurdles to run a school record time and the fastest 100m hurdles time in the WAC in 11 years.
Antoinette Cobb Honored Again by WAC...And Again And Again.
► Louisiana Tech's Antoinette Cobb was honored by the Western Athletic Conference Tuesday when the league office named her the WAC Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. Cobb reigned in the honor after running the fastest 100m hurdles time of any WAC athlete since 1999.
Louisiana Tech Sweeps WAC Track Athlete of the Week Awards
► Louisiana Tech's Chasidee Lewis-Baker and Demonte Willis were named the women's and men's Western Athletic Conference Track Athletes of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. Both athletes won their races at the Jim Mize Invitational on Saturday. Both sprinters earned their first WAC weekly honor of the season as Louisiana Tech began its outdoor season.
Lewis-Baker won the 100-meter dash at the Jim Mize Invitational with a time of 11.84 seconds and ran the opening leg of the 4x100m relay team that won at the Jim Mize Invitational with a time of 46.24. Willis won the 400 meters with a time of 48.07 and ran the opening leg of the 4x400m relay team that won that race with a time of 3:15.05.
Fullwood Among the Faces in the Crowd
► Louisiana Tech's Albert Fullwood was recognized in a national publication this week as Sports Illustrated listed him among the "Faces in the Crowd" in their most recent issue. Fullwood was recognized after winning three conference titles at the WAC Indoor Championships and being named the WAC Track Performer of the Year.
Sports Illustrated reported: "Fullwood, a senior at Louisiana Tech, won the 200- (21.25) and 400-meter races (48.04) and anchored the winning 4x400 relay team at the Western Athletic Conference indoor championships. He was the WAC's track performer of the year for the indoor season; Fullwood won the same award for the 2009 outdoor season, when he also was the 200 and 400 champion."
