NEW ORLEANS, La. - Following a strong start to the 2014 outdoor season, Louisiana Tech's men's track and field team moved up to No. 42 in the latest national rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The rise moved the Bulldogs up 17 spots after LA Tech was ranked No. 59 in the preseason rankings.
Leading the Bulldogs this season is Jarvis Gotch, ranked sixth in the nation in the long jump. Trey Hadnot is ranked 11th in the nation in the 200m while Yusuf Muhammad ranks 13th in the 400m hurdles. In all, the Bulldogs have eight marks ranked in the top 40 in the nation.
The women's team moved up one spot to No. 79 in this week's rankings release by the USTFCCCA.
The Lady Techsters are led by Kim Francis, ranked seventh in the 100m hurdles while the 4x400m relay is ranked 36th in the nation. In all the women's team have four marks ranked in the top 45 in the nation.
All ranked and scored marks in the USTFCCCA national rankings are factored by career best marks.
Louisiana Tech returns to action this Saturday at the UTEP Invitational in El Paso, Texas.
