RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's track and field program heads out to the west Texas town of El Paso this weekend as LA Tech will face several Conference USA programs at the UTEP Invitational Saturday.
LA Tech will face C-USA foes North Texas, Rice and UTEP along with New Mexico State, Northern Illinois and Grand Canyon in the scored meet.
In addition to facing tough collegiate competition, several professional athletes from around the world will be competing in the meet including 2012 Olympic Champion Kirani James, Mexican record holder and Olympian Carlos Herrera, and Nike Pro-French athletes Yoann Rapinier, N'diss Kaba Badji, Guy Anouman, Pierre Chalus, Gautier Dautremer and former Miner Mickael Hanany.
Louisiana Tech is coming off two straight weeks of split squads traveling to different meets with several athletes having a successful meet at the Skechers Carl Kight Invitational last weekend at Stephen F. Austin.
The outdoor season has reached its midway point as the team progresses towards the Conference USA Outdoor Championships on May 15-18.
