RUSTON, La. - For the first time in a month, Louisiana Tech's track and field programs return to the friendly confines of the borders of the Pelican State. LA Tech will face several ranked programs Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge.
The Bulldogs program will be tested in facing four teams ranked in the top 35 after reaching the No. 36 ranking in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) polls this week. The Bulldogs will have a chance to move up with quality performances as they face No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 10 LSU, No. 17 Tennessee, No. 19 Arizona, No. 31 Mississippi State and No. 35 Iowa State.
The Lady Techsters will also face tough competition as No. 1 Texas A&M highlights the women's field. LA Tech will also face No. 7 LSU, No. 10 Arizona, No. 32 Mississippi State, No. 35 Iowa State and No. 36 Tennessee in this weekend's competition.
In all, the LSU Alumni Gold will feature 18 programs including four Southeastern Conference schools and a combined four schools from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12 Conferences.
Louisiana Tech is heading down the homestretch of the outdoor season with only two regular season meets remaining for student-athletes to position themselves for ranking for the 2014 Conference USA Outdoor Championships. That conference meet is slated for May 15-18 in Houston, Texas.
