IRVING, Texas - After a season-best performance in the 100m hurdles at the LSU Alumni Gold Saturday, Louisiana Tech senior Kim Francis has been named the Conference USA Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Francis, a native of Youngsville, La., ran a season-best time of 13.02 in the 100m hurdles ranking as the top time in Conference USA this season. Her mark currently ranks her ninth in the country and 19th in the world this season while ranking as the second-best mark in school history.
She also ran the opening leg of the 4x100m relay that finished with a season-best time of 44.88 as the Lady Techsters edged Tennessee for third place, finishing on the heels of nationally-ranked Texas A&M and LSU.
This is Francis’ first C-USA Track and Field Athlete of the Week award as well as it being the first Athlete of the Week award for any Louisiana Tech track and field student-athlete since the school joined Conference USA.
Louisiana Tech will close out the regular season on Saturday as Tech competes at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos hosted by Texas State.
