DENVER - After winning the 100m and 200m relays at the Northwestern State Invitational last weekend, Quanisha Sales was honored by being named the Western Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week. Sales' time in the 200m currently ranks ninth in the nation.
Sales, a freshman from Nashville, Tenn. (Hillsboro HS), won both the 100 and 200 meters at the Northwestern State Invitational in Natchitoches, La. on Saturday with a pair of WAC-leading times. Sales won the 200m dash with a time of 23.12 seconds, a mark that ranks ninth in the nation this year and second all-time at Louisiana Tech. That mark also set a new facility and meet record at Northwestern State. Sales also won the 100m with a time of 11.51, a mark that ranks fourth all-time at Louisiana Tech.
This marks the ninth Athlete of the Week honor a Louisiana Tech student-athlete has been awarded this season with Antoinette Cobb claiming the award five times and Chasidee Lewis-Baker, Albert Fullwood and Demonte Willis earning the honor once each.
Louisiana Tech returns to the track on May 12-15 when Tech hosts the 2010 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the first time in program history at the recently renovated Jim Mize Track and Field Complex in Ruston.
