IRVING, Texas - Louisiana Tech placed three student-athletes on the 2017 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Track and Field All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Louisiana Tech had two women earn the academic honor in Kacie Kaufman and Morgan Keesee, while Drake Heinz represented the Bulldogs on the men’s side.

Kaufman, a sophomore distance runner for the Lady Techsters, earned a spot on the women’s track and field All-Academic team with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA in communication at Louisiana Tech, while also being named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and a Commissioner’s Academic Medal recipient for the past two years.

This season, Kaufman recorded five top 10 finishes in both indoor and outdoor competitions, while posting a personal-best time of 4:56.45 in the 1,500m to finish in first place at the Jim Mize Invitational. Throughout the 2017 indoor and outdoor seasons, Keesee has recorded five finishes in the top five and nine top 10 finishes in 10 events. She placed fourth in the discus at the ULL Classic with a mark of 135-9 (41.37m), while also recording a personal-best mark of 171-1 (52.15m) to place fourth in the hammer throw at the Southern Miss Invitational, which ranks 10th in program history.
