Jordan Patrick Earns C-USA Spirit of Service Award

June 7, 2017

IRVING, Texas - Louisiana Tech sophomore track and field student-athlete Jordan Patrick has been named the University’s recipient of the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award for the spring, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Conference USA’s Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season and is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league’s student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport.

Patrick, who competes in the heptathlon (indoor) and decathlon (outdoor) for LA Tech, is one of 14 student-athletes from each of the league members to earn the honor. The spring Spirit of Service Award honorees represent the following sports: baseball, golf, softball, tennis and outdoor track and field.

This past spring, Patrick set a school record with 4,775 points in the heptathlon to finish sixth at the 2017 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship. To follow that performance, Patrick ended the outdoor season by breaking his own record in the decathlon with 6,588 points to finish fifth at the C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in El Paso.

In the classroom, Patrick maintains a 3.547 cumulative GPA in mechanical engineering and is a five-time member of the Dean’s Honor List. He serves the Ruston community in disaster relief drives, while he also volunteers at Harold Keller Elementary School and worked the SAAC Hunger Food Drive.
