RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will host a reception on Tuesday, July 10 for two of its three current and former athletes headed to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The reception will be held in the Waggoner Room of the Thomas Assembly Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. with remarks beginning at 11:45 a.m. Drinks and cookies will be available for attendees and fans will be able to sign a banner for the athletes as well as wish them good luck. The athletes will also be available to sign autographs and answer questions.
Recent redshirt senior and New Orleans native Chelsea Hayes will represent the United States in the long jump while Jason Morgan will represent his native Jamaica in the discus. Both Hayes and Morgan will be on hand to answer questions, sign autographs and will say a few words about their experiences to date.
Ayanna Alexander (Trinidad & Tobago, triple jump) is the third athlete with Louisiana Tech ties headed to the Olympics but will not be able to travel back to the United States for Tuesday’s event. Both Hayes and Morgan currently train in Ruston.
The event is free and open to the public and the media.
