Louisiana Tech Announces 2015 Track and Field Schedule
Nov. 18, 2014 Gary Stanley announced the program's 2014 schedule Tuesday with five meets on the indoor slate and six outdoor meets scheduled in regular season action.
The indoor schedule features up to six trips to Southeastern Conference facilities while the highlight of the outdoor schedule comes on March 21 as Tech will host the annual Jim Mize Invitational as it opens the outdoor slate. In all, Tech will compete at seven different SEC or Big 12 Conference sites throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.
LA Tech's indoor schedule begins on Jan. 9-10 with a trip to Birmingham, Alabama for the UAB Blazer Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex, host of the 2015 Conference USA Indoor Championships.
That is followed by four consecutive meets hosted by Southeastern Conference schools starting with the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station, Texas on Jan. 17 followed by the Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee on Jan. 23-24. LA Tech will head to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Feb. 14 before wrapping up the SEC stretch with the LSU Twilight in Baton Rouge on Feb. 20.
The Conference USA Indoor Championships will be on Feb. 25-26 with Arkansas hosting the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas on March 13-14.
The Jim Mize Invitational on the Louisiana Tech campus on March 21 will open the outdoor season for LA Tech before Tech heads to the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on March 26-28. Tech will make another trip into SEC territory on April 3-4 when it will compete at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida. The Texas Relays and the Florida Relays are two of the premiere outdoor meets in the country providing national caliber competition.
Louisiana Tech will then compete at the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge on April 18 before an April 25 trip to Natchitoches for the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational.
The month of May will start with two trips to the Lone Star State; first to TCU's Horned Frog Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas on May 2 then to El Paso as UTEP hosts the Conference USA Championships on May 15-17.
Qualifying athletes will head to Jacksonville, Florida on May 28-30 for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships, held in Eugene, Oregon at historic Heyward Field on June 10-13.
