LA Tech T&F Announces 2017-18 Indoor and Outdoor Schedules

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head track and field coach Gary Stanley and his staff have announced the program’s 2017-18 indoor and outdoor track and field schedules with four indoor events and eight outdoor meets scheduled in regular season action.

The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will compete in a total of four indoor meets prior to the 2018 Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held Feb. 17-18 in Birmingham, Alabama.

This season’s indoor schedule will begin earlier than past years with Louisiana Tech scheduled to start the slate this Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic at the First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Following this weekend’s season-opening indoor meet, LA Tech’s next event is scheduled for Jan. 12 when the squads travel to compete in the Texas A&M Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station, Texas, which is also the site of the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships on March 9-10. On Jan. 27, Louisiana Tech will travel to Pittsburg, Kansas, to compete in the Pittsburg State Invitational before wrapping up the regular season slate on Feb. 4 with the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational in Birmingham.

Louisiana Tech’s 2018 outdoor schedule features eight regular season events prior to the C-USA Outdoor Championships on May 10-13 in Houston, Texas. The slate begins on Wednesday, March 14 as LA Tech will host the annual Jim Mize Invitational at the Jim Mize Track & Field Complex in Ruston.

The men and women will spend the next two weekends competing in the ULL Classic (March 17) and Rice’s Victor Lopez Classic (March 23-24) before LA Tech travels to Austin, Texas, to participate in the annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 29-31.

LA Tech will head to Nacogdoches, Texas, on April 6-7 to compete in the Stephen F. Austin Carl Knight Invitational before spending the following three weekends at in-state events with the ULM Invitational (April 14), LSU Alumni Gold (April 21) and the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational (April 28).

 

 

The 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Preliminary Rounds are slated for May 24-26 in Tampa, Florida, while the NCAA Championships will be held on June 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.

LA Tech is led by head coach Gary Stanley, who is entering his 36th year at Louisiana Tech and his 30th as head coach of the men’s and women’s track programs, while he is assisted by Wesley Miller, Adam Malloy and Davina Orieukwu.

The 2018 track and field team will feature nearly 30 newcomers combined between the men and women, while notable returners for the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters include Tamario Lattin (jumps), Jordan Patrick (multis), Brandi Dobbin (sprints) and Chloe Lautric (jumps).
