Sept. 19, 2015
RUSTON, La. - Junior Logan Pearce finished second overall as LA Tech placed six runners in the top 13 at the Mook Triple-Duals Saturday morning at Tech Farm.
Pearce missed a first place finish by merely seconds, finishing the 4-mile race in 20:35.7. Following right behind was sophomore Kraemer Jackson who finished sixth with a time of 21:31.7 and junior Tom Stringer who finished seventh with a time of 21:36.5.
"Considering the late start to the season, I thought they ran well and I was really impressed," head coach Gary Stanley said of the men. "Logan [Pearce] was great, and for a freshman, I thought Brandon-Lewis Graham ran extremely well."
It was the opening meet for the Louisiana Tech women who placed two in the top three overall in the women's 5,000-meter race. Kacie Kaufman led the way with her second place finish, completing the course in just 19:35.1. Kaufman was right alongside sophomore Hayley Berg who finished the race in third with a time of 19:35.15.
"They are both from Colorado and are still acclimating to the 90 degree weather," Stanley said. "I thought they handled it well. I was very pleased with those two and we will get even better as we put some more work in."
Freshman Quinci Middlebrook recorded a top 15 finish, placing 14th overall with a time of 21:48.6. Rounding out the top five for Louisiana Tech were sophomore's Caroline Fontenot, who finished with a time of 23:08.8, and Brittany McCrum, who finished in 23:57.9.
