Louisiana Tech Men's Cross Country Wins Demon Invitational

NATCHITOCHES, La. - Alwayne Green ran a meet-best 15:15.5 and Louisiana Tech tallied a meet-best 23 points as the men's cross country team claimed the team title at the Demon Invitational in Natchitoches Friday.

Green's time in the three mile race bested all other competitors while Matt Wolfe placed fourth with a time of 15:32.9. Josh Slocum ran 15:45.0 to finish fifth and Brent Kitto finished sixth with a time of 15:47.5.

The men's team finished first out of seven schools, beating in-state rivals Louisiana-Lafayette and host Northwestern State.

The women's team finished third out of seven, falling to ULL and Northwestern State but beating Centenary as the scored 93 points.

Mary Kate Hays led the women's team with a time of 21:23.4 as she finished 16th while Dana Ramstad placed 18th with a time of 21:36.7.

The teams are next in action on Oct. 29 as Louisiana Tech travels to Honolulu, Hawaii for the 2011 WAC Championships.
