LA Tech Men Finish Ninth at Conference USA Championships

RUSTON, La. (Nov. 1, 2014) - The Louisiana Tech men's cross country team finished ninth at the Conference USA Championships in Denton, Texas at Eagle Point Cross Country Course on Saturday morning.
The Bulldogs were led by senior Tor Gach who finished the 8K course with a time of 26:02.8. Following Gach was fellow senior Taylor Ashton who finished in 26:17.1. Freshman Hayden Schmitz was the Bulldogs third scorer with a time of 26:45.9.
Rounding out the scoring for LA Tech was sophomore Tom Stringer who finished with a time of 27:03.9 and freshman Kraemer Jackson who finished in 27:16.2.
On the women's side, Louisiana Tech finished 13th overall as they were led by freshman Hayley Berg who finished with a time of 19:56.1. Following right behind Berg was junior Hope Harris who finished in 20:42.1.
Freshman Brittany McCrum was Louisiana Tech's third scorer with a time of 21:40.2, followed by freshman Caroline Fontenot who finished in 22:18.8. Rounding out the scoring for the women was sophomore Cassie Divin who finished with a time of 24:07.4.
"I thought the freshman on both the men and women's side ran really well," head coach Gary Stanley said. "We had a lot of personal records today and that bodes well for the future."
Louisiana Tech's next action will come in the NCAA Regionals on November 14th when the Bulldogs travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas.
