RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech’s cross country program opens the 2013 season and its first year in Conference USA Saturday morning as it hosts the Mook 5 Invitational starting at 9 a.m. at Lincoln Parish Park.
The meet will include a men’s 5,000-meter (5k) race at 9 a.m. followed by a women’s 5k race at 9:30 a.m.
Head cross country coach Gary Stanley, entering his 26th year as head track and field and cross country coach at Louisiana Tech, is expecting approximately 10 teams competing in the meet including Northwestern State, UABP, Mississippi Valley State, Jackson State, Alcorn State, Grambling State, Centenary, Louisiana College and Southeastern Oklahoma.
LA Tech’s full 2013 slate was released Thursday with a challenging schedule for both the men’s and women’s teams leading up to the Conference USA Championship Meet on Nov. 2 in Denton, Texas.
