Tech Cross Country Finishes Ninth at Auburn Event
The Louisiana Tech Men's Cross Country Team finished ninth out of 26 teams at the Auburn Bank Cross Country Invitational at Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, Ala., Saturday.
The Bulldog runners finished with 253 points, edging Kennesaw State for ninth place. Tech also finished in front of Sun Belt Conference foe South Alabama, marking the first time Head Coach Gary Stanley could remember defeating the Jaguars.
"I was very pleased with our overall performance," Stanley said. "You never know what might happen at the conference meet, but defeating South Alabama was great for us."
Louisiana Tech's total time was 2:15:45.60 and the seven Tech runners averaged 27:09.14 for the 8K tract.
Brandon Brown led the Tech runners (26:09.35) finishing 22nd out of 173 runners at the event.
The remaining Bulldogs runners were finished between 57th and 87th place. Chris Anderson finished 57th (27:07.27), while Sam Navarro finished 68th (27:25.37), Karl Stavenberg 76th (27:31.75), Kyle Odom 77th (27:31.95) and Andy Bipella in 80th (27:36.28). Matt Carroll (27:48.03) rounded out the Tech runners in 87th place (27:48.03).
In the team standings, Tulane won the event with Tennessee-Chattanooga and Samford finishing second and third respectively.
Louisiana Tech competes in the Chili Pepper Invitational hosted by the
University of Arkansas in Fayetteville next Saturday.
